Streets of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4 continues the classic beat ’em up series 25 years after its previous chapter, as a new crime syndicate controls the streets and corrupts the police. Players fight back with friends and fists across 12 stages, using updated combat mechanics within a hand-drawn, comic-inspired visual style featuring vivid effects and animated action. Up to five new playable characters can be unlocked, while alternative retro characters, secret retro levels, pixel graphics, and music from the first two games provide additional ways to revisit the series’ earlier style.

The game includes Story, Training, and Arcade modes, along with an electronic soundtrack featuring Olivier Derivière and Yuzo Koshiro. The Mr. X Nightmare expansion continues the story after the main events with three additional playable characters, a Survival mode built around weekly challenges, new weapons and enemies, and character customization that lets players shape fighting styles with new moves. Its training scenario centers on an artificial intelligence program created from remnants of Mister X’s brain, simulating threats for Axel, Blaze, and their allies. Controller support, a redesigned interface, and achievements are also included.
