SHOCK TROOPERS 2nd Squad is a military action game centered on four mercenaries working to stop the ambitions of a massive corporation. Players move through combat-focused stages using a main attack, weapons, and jumping, while vehicles add another way to approach the action. Branching routes let players choose how to proceed through the stages, giving each run room for different paths and tactics.

The game supports single-player arcade action with multiple mercenaries to choose from, vehicle-based gameplay, and stage routes that change the way an assault unfolds. Screen settings and other options can reproduce the visual presentation and difficulty associated with its original NEOGEO release. Online ranking modes provide a way to compare scores, while quick save and load functions support convenient progress management.
