In Reigns, you take the throne as a medieval monarch and respond to the kingdom’s demands with a swipe left or right. Advisors, peasants, allies, and enemies bring requests that can strengthen or threaten your rule, while every choice may create consequences that surface later. Your central challenge is keeping four powerful interests in balance: the church, the people, the army, and the treasury.

Each year introduces another seemingly random decision, and careful planning can extend your reign, forge alliances, or create enemies. Unpredictable motives, surprise events, and bad luck can bring an abrupt end to even a stable monarchy, putting both your life and your family’s dynasty at risk. As the dynasty advances through the ages, some storylines continue across centuries, including conflicts involving witch-burning, scientific enlightenment, political intrigue, and the Devil. The goal is to survive as long as possible while discovering the many ways a ruler’s decisions can shape the kingdom—and lead to death.
