My OldBoy! emulates Game Boy and Game Boy Color hardware, letting players browse for legally obtained game files and run them with support for nearly every aspect of the original systems. The core loop is straightforward: play, save progress at any moment, and return instantly through save states. Fast-forward can skip lengthy scenes or speed through familiar sections, while slow motion can help with difficult passages. Save states can also include screenshots, and saves can be synchronized with Google Drive.

The emulator supports link cable play on the same device or between devices through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, along with rumble, tilt controls, Game Boy Camera, and Game Boy Printer emulation. Monochrome games can receive custom Super Game Boy-style palettes, while GLSL shaders and selectable rendering backends provide visual customization. Players can enter and toggle multiline GameShark or Game Genie codes, apply IPS or UPS patches, and create multiple screen-layout and key-mapping profiles. A layout editor adjusts the size and position of the game display and on-screen controls, with external controller support, shortcut buttons, and desktop shortcuts for launching favorite games.
