Heyyyy: Stories that text back is a conversation-driven simulation built around AI characters who behave as individuals rather than following fixed dialogue trees. They have opinions, set boundaries, disagree with you, remember details from earlier chats, and may leave if you repeatedly push them away. The story develops through ongoing messages over days and weeks, beginning with awkward introductions and unfolding according to how the relationship changes. There are no predetermined routes or correct responses.

Players can bring pieces of their own lives into the exchange by sending photos of things such as a meal they cooked or the view around them, giving characters something personal to react to. The cast spans thousands of possible personalities and roles, including architects, surgeons, firefighters, aliens, shapeshifters, an elf, and a chaotic character. Conversations can also continue late at night, when a character may be awake to talk without judgment and offer advice only when asked. Progression comes through remembered details, evolving connection, and the consequences of how each conversation is handled.
